How to install official Android Lollipop 5.0.2 Update on Moto G XT 1033

I have been hearing about many of the Moto G users receiving official OTA for latest android update Lollipop 5.0.2.

However whenever I try to check for any updates, I get the notification that my android is up to date.

This was really frustrating me , So like last time where I had similar issues to update my android to KitKat 4.4.4, This time again I had to opt for manual option.

If you are also facing same problem like me, Please follow below manual installation steps and update your Moto G to Android Lollipop 5.0.2.

How to install the official Android Lollipop 5.0.2 on Moto G XT 1033:

1. Download the Lollipop 5.0.2 OTA update file from here.
It has the filename “Blur_Version.210.12.40.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03.zip”.
MD5: 51E6691BEC71E3BF658960F2128899AC

2. Copy it to your phone’s root folder.

3. Reboot your phone to the recovery using below method
> Power off the phone.
> Press and hold Volume down and Power keys together.
> Use the volume down key to select Recovery, and press the Volume up key to enter it.
> You will see a android lying on it’s back on the screen.
> Press both volume keys and the power key together.
> Let go of the power key to enter the recovery.

4. Once you are in the recovery mode, select the option which says “install zip from sd card”.

5. Choose the zip file which you downloaded and copied in root folder.

6. Use the volume keys to highlight it, and press the power button to begin the installation process.

It will begin updating your phone to Android Lollipop 5.0.2. It takes a while for the update to patch the system files, maybe over 5 to 10 minutes. So be patient and take a walk, while it finishes.

7. Then it will prompt you to reboot and once you reboot the optimization process begins which will be shorter or longer, depending on the number of apps you have.

There you go, you now have the latest official Android software Lollipop 5.0.2.
